 IAS Exam Preparation 2017: These subject-wise study tips will guide the student to strategies their preparation in an organized manner

Considerably Planning along with optimal time management is the identity to successfully get through civil services preliminary examination (IAS, IPS). UPSC will conduct the IAS, IPS exam every year. These subject-wise tips will guide the aspirants to strategies their preparation:

1 : Current Affairs 
This section has become large and most important section from last 3 years as more than 10 numbers of questions are asked from current affairs. Also any current affair related to any subject mentioned above becomes important.
- Best way to cover current affairs is to regularly read prominent newspapers and magazines. Also students should prepare notes from the newspaper regularly which immensely helps in revision just few days before the examination.

2 : Art and culture
-This subject area has to go important in recent times for both prelims and mains. Especial focus on this subject should be in areas like dance forms, folk cultures, paintings, architecture, collection, management etc. Candidate can refer to 11th standard introduction to Indian Arts, NIOS book on art and culture

3 : Geography
Geography is most important in prelims examination; the focus should be on Indian geography. Underworld geography, map reading is more than sufficient. In map reading, especial focus should be on areas which were in news program recently. 

- Map reading is also important in Indian Geography, as at least 1 question always comes in Geography paper based on Indian map.

8th to 12th standard books of geography are the best source to prepare this subject as well as some geographic news reading is the best one

4 : Science and Technology
Broadly aspirants neglect this subject while preparing for the prelims. But this subject is equally important to score well in prelims.
-NCERT books of 11th and 12th standard of Physics, Chemistry and Biology helps in preparing the basics of this subject.

5 : Politics and Economy
In recent times, UPSC is also asking more and more questions from Government schemes and policies. While preparing polity for prelims, special emphasis should be on the Constitution. Under Constitution od India, chapters related to Fundamental frequency Rights, Directive Principles on State Policy, Fundamental Duties, President and Parliament are the most important. 

- For studying conventional polity students can refer books by Subhash Kashyap and PM Bakshi.

6 : Economy 
Current blueprint of questions in a Political economy is mainly related to basic concepts, current events, international organizations etc. To be able to attempt the questions from economy successfully, student should first clear the concept of economy taxation

- One of the best ways to study economics is to continuously link news articles with basic concepts of economics for the better understanding of the subject.
